ROAS Priority Mode

Learn how to use ROAS Priority Mode in AI Managed to control ACOS more strictly at the Managed Group level.

ROAS Priority Mode

ROAS Priority Mode is a cost-control setting used under Optimize Base Bids in AI Managed. When enabled, the system prioritizes ACOS control during base bid optimization. If the actual ACOS is higher than the target, AI tends to adjust bids more conservatively, helping campaigns move closer to the target ACOS range.

With ROAS Priority Mode, you can:

  • Apply stricter ad cost control when the goal is to keep orders stable.

  • Move control from the Profile level to the Managed Group level, so different Managed Groups under the same Profile can use different strategies.

  • Keep AI optimization in Optimize Base Bids while reducing the chance of continued upward bid exploration when ACOS is significantly above target.

  • Manage the setting through bulk actions, templates, exports, and operation logs.

Use Cases

Stable Managed Groups with cost-first goals: Enable ROAS Priority Mode when you want to keep orders stable while keeping ACOS closer to the target.

Different cost goals under the same Profile: If one Profile contains multiple brands, product lines, or operating goals, you can enable ROAS Priority Mode only for cost-sensitive Managed Groups, while other Managed Groups continue using regular AI optimization.

Agency management across multiple brands: When different clients or brands have different ROAS / ACOS requirements, Profile-level control can limit growth-focused Managed Groups. ROAS Priority Mode supports configuration by Managed Group.

Bulk Managed Group configuration: If multiple Managed Groups need stricter cost control, you can enable the setting through Optimize Base Bids bulk actions. You can also keep and review the field in templates, copied Managed Groups, exports, and logs.

Concepts

How ROAS Priority Mode Affects AI Optimization

ROAS Priority Mode does not replace regular AI optimization. Instead, when ACOS clearly deviates from the target, it makes the system place more weight on cost control in base bid adjustments.

After it is enabled, the system continues to observe performance and decides whether to adjust base bids more conservatively based on the target ACOS. For targets where ACOS is above target and the data is sufficient, the system is more likely to lower bids or keep bids unchanged, instead of continuing upward exploration as in regular optimization.

Note: In the current version, ROAS Priority Mode only affects base bid optimization under Optimize Base Bids. It does not change targeting harvesting, negative targeting, budget, structure optimization, or any other action spaces.

Relationship with Optimize Base Bids

ROAS Priority Mode is an additional setting under Optimize Base Bids. It is not a top-level switch for the entire Managed Group. The setting is displayed and takes effect only when Optimize Base Bids is enabled and the optimization method is AI.

Requirements

ROAS Priority Mode takes effect only when all of the following requirements are met:

Requirement

Description

The Managed Group goal is Keep Stable

Supported only under the Keep Stable goal

Optimize Base Bids is enabled

The mode applies only to Optimize Base Bids

Optimize Base Bids uses AI

If the optimization method is not AI, the setting is not displayed or does not take effect

ROAS Priority Mode is selected

The default status is off and must be enabled manually

Relationship with Auto Pacing

Auto Pacing has a higher priority than ROAS Priority Mode. When a Managed Group is in a budget group with Auto Pacing enabled, the ROAS Priority Mode selection is kept, but it does not take effect at that time. After Auto Pacing is turned off, the system checks the Managed Group goal, Optimize Base Bids, and optimization method again to determine whether ROAS Priority Mode can take effect.

Cold Start and Insufficient Data

After ROAS Priority Mode is enabled, the system still keeps the necessary testing capability. For all targets in campaigns created by Smart Creation, or new targets harvested by AI, ROAS Priority Mode is not applied before click data is available. If the bidding method is CPM, the mode is not applied until impression data is available.

This prevents the system from lowering bids too early when data is insufficient, which could affect the signals needed for performance judgment.

How to Use

Enable It in a Single Managed Group

1. Go to the AI Managed page under AI Ads Optimization.

2. Open the Managed Group you want to configure.

3. Confirm that the Managed Group goal is Keep Stable.

4. In Optimize Base Bids, confirm that the action space is enabled and the optimization method is AI.

5. Select ROAS Priority Mode.

6. Save the Managed Group settings.

If you cannot see ROAS Priority Mode, first check whether the Managed Group goal, Optimize Base Bids switch, and optimization method meet the requirements. The feature may also be visible only to accounts with access enabled.

Enable ROAS Priority Mode in Bulk

You can enable ROAS Priority Mode for multiple Managed Groups through Optimize Base Bids bulk actions.

  • Entry: Optimize Base Bids bulk action panel.

  • Display condition: The ROAS Priority Mode setting is displayed when the Optimize Base Bids optimization method in the bulk panel is AI.

  • Action behavior: The bulk action is used to enable ROAS Priority Mode. If the setting is not selected in the bulk panel, it does not turn off Managed Groups where the mode is already enabled.

About Excel Bulk Creation

This release does not support configuring ROAS Priority Mode when creating Managed Groups in bulk through Excel. After creating the Managed Group, open the Managed Group settings page and enable the mode under Optimize Base Bids.

If you need to check or record whether Managed Groups have ROAS Priority Mode enabled, use the export file to review the corresponding field.

Inherit Through Templates and Copied Managed Groups

ROAS Priority Mode can be saved, edited, and applied with Managed Group setting templates. When you copy a Managed Group, the setting is also inherited with the Managed Group configuration.

After applying a template or copying a Managed Group, we recommend checking the new Managed Group goal, Optimize Base Bids optimization method, and Auto Pacing status to confirm whether ROAS Priority Mode can take effect.

View Status, Export, and Operation Logs

After the mode is enabled, you can view the ROAS Priority Mode status in the action space settings area on the Managed Group list. When you export Managed Group data, the export file also includes the corresponding field, helping you check which Managed Groups have the mode enabled.

The system records enable and disable actions for ROAS Priority Mode, including the operator, operation time, and Managed Group.

Feature Availability

ROAS Priority Mode is currently available as a limited rollout feature and is only open to customers with access enabled. If you cannot see this setting in your account, contact your Customer Success Manager to enable or confirm feature access.

FAQ

Q: Which optimization actions does ROAS Priority Mode affect?

A: It mainly affects base bid optimization under Optimize Base Bids. It does not automatically change budget, targeting harvesting, negative targeting, structure optimization, or other action spaces.

Q: After I enable it, will the system immediately lower all bids?

A: Not necessarily. The system evaluates actual ACOS, target ACOS, overall campaign performance, and data sufficiency before deciding whether to adjust. For short-term fluctuations or insufficient data, the system may continue observing.

Q: Why do I not see an effect immediately after enabling it?

A: Common reasons include: (1) the Managed Group has Auto Pacing enabled, so Auto Pacing takes priority; (2) the target or campaign is still in cold start, and click or impression data is insufficient; (3) actual ACOS has not clearly deviated from the target; (4) the Managed Group goal, Optimize Base Bids, or optimization method does not meet the requirements.

Q: Will ROAS Priority Mode completely remove traffic?

A: The system keeps necessary testing capability and avoids applying strict control too early when data is insufficient or the target is new. If there is no spend or no impression for an extended period after bid decreases, the system can gradually recover bids according to the algorithm strategy, reducing the risk of traffic being suppressed for too long.

Q: Should I enable ROAS Priority Mode if Auto Pacing is already enabled?

A: You can keep the selection, but ROAS Priority Mode does not take effect while Auto Pacing is active. If your main goal is strict ACOS control, decide whether budget pacing or ACOS control should take priority.

Q: Can I turn off ROAS Priority Mode through bulk actions?

A: Bulk actions are mainly used to enable the mode. If ROAS Priority Mode is not selected in the bulk panel, it does not turn off Managed Groups where the mode is already enabled. To turn it off, open the individual Managed Group settings.

Q: Does Excel bulk creation support ROAS Priority Mode?

A: Not in this release. Create the Managed Group first, then open the Managed Group settings page and enable ROAS Priority Mode under Optimize Base Bids.

Q: Can I still adjust bids manually after enabling it?

A: Yes, but frequent manual intervention is not recommended. Manual bid changes may conflict with AI bid decreases and affect optimization results. We recommend observing performance for a period after enabling the mode, then deciding whether to adjust target ACOS, AI Personality, or Managed Group settings.
